Abstract
MANAGING SUICIDE RISK AND NAVIGATING ETHICAL DILEMMAS IN AN EVASIVE PATIENT WITH MAJOR DEPRESSIVE DISORDER Ã?â?¬â?? A CASE REPORT
Author(s): Eugene Wuan Kin Mun
The importance of the therapeutic alliance between clinician and patient cannot be overstated, especially in the field of psychiatry, where the patient’s trust in the clinician often determines the amount of information he or she is willing to disclose to him. This case report highlights a patient with Major Depressive Disorder, who was often evasive and even deceptive to her psychiatrist, and how the risk of suicide was managed over time despite these constraints. Pertinent ethical considerations are also discussed.
